And, pulling a stick of RAM out and then insinuating that it automatically equates to being a hardware issue, is ridiculous, my friend.Hardware is a component of the equation, but x= Boot in safe mode - press F8 when the Windows loader presents you with the 30 second list of choices, and then select "Safe Mode" as your boot option. I sitll haven't fixed the problem BUT...…I found a way to extract old files from the affected laptop and put it onto an external hard drive that I had laying around. Tomorrow, when everything goes fine, i should get the vista disk and win 7 disk, so when everything goes fine, i can do the backup and put win 7 on it.
