It'll also have a number next to it and if you expand the item out by clicking the arrow, you will also see every service running under that particular process.

Thank You! Re-enable the service and restart the computer again and hopefully things are working! I wasn't initially able to run the troubleshooter because the first task it runs is to check for updates, and my system seemed to hang.

Safe mode is the only time that the computer runs normally.

tasklist /SVC The problem with using the command line method is that you don't necessarily know what these cryptic names refer to. Started working like there was never any problem. 1. oops :p All windows updates completed and no CPU being used up by svchost.exe anymore!
